    The Delphi Indy 300 will be held at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill.,
on Sept. 2, 2001. This event will be the 12th of 14 events scheduled during
the 2001 Indy Racing League season. The 1.5-mile state-of-the-art facility
will provide 75,000 seats in the grandstands, more than 650 recreational
vehicles spots in the infield, and 32 suites.
    Delphi previously sponsored the Delphi Indy 200 in Orlando, Fla., January
2000.
    In announcing Delphi's title sponsorship of the Delphi Indy 300, Bill
Lafontaine, Delphi director of marketing and customer development said, "The
commitment underlines the company's ongoing belief in the future of
motorsports as a proving ground for a new generation of leading-edge Delphi
products."
    "There's no harsher testing environment for the development of truly
breakthrough products than racing," Lafontaine said. "For that reason, we've
made a deliberate effort to foster our relationship with the Indy Racing
League. Additionally, this sponsorship agreement is a great way to build and
enhance the Delphi brand."
    Tony George, president and chief executive officer of the IRNLS, echoed
Lafontaine's enthusiasm.
    "Delphi is clearly one of the leading forces in the development of
automotive systems and we're very pleased they are continuing to take such an
active role in supporting the IRNLS, which provides millions of fans with some
of the most exciting racing in the world," George said.
    Lafontaine said Delphi's commitment to motorsports is on solid ground,
especially with the Kelley Racing Team. Since 1998, Delphi has sponsored
Scott Sharp in car #8 of IRNLS. Sharp is tied for the most race wins (five)
in IRNLS history.
    For 2001, Delphi also is the primary sponsor on Mark Dismore's car #28.
Dismore, who is also a Kelley Racing Team driver, won the final race of the
1999 season at Texas Motor Speedway.
    Delphi, the official electronics provider to the IRL, has been involved in
open-wheel racing since 1988 and has researched and developed technologies to
improve driver safety. Today, a majority of the vehicles in the IRL are
equipped with several of Delphi's racing products including:

    * Accident Data Recorder (ADR2) -- senses and records key vehicle
parameters at 1000 samples per second just prior to, during, and after an
accident-triggering event;
    * Coil Driver Module -- when commanded by the Gen IV ECM, this unit
precisely supplies more than 360 volts to the coils of each of the eight spark
plugs and eliminates the need for a mechanical distributor;
    * Track Condition Radio -- alerts drivers with critical information by
transmitting messages from race control to the racecar. A dash-mounted
display communicates messages including safety warnings, track condition and
pits opened/closed;
    * Radio Telemetry Module -- transmits engine and chassis data from a
speeding racecar to race team engineers located in the pits. The telemetry
module helps enhance driver safety and race team strategy by making real-time
data available.

    Dismore and Sharp's next race is at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for
the Indianapolis 500 on May 27.
