Amerigon develops, manufactures and markets proprietary high technology
products for automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Its
proprietary Climate Control Seat(TM) (CCS(TM)) system, which is integrated
into a vehicle seat, significantly enhances individual driver and passenger
comfort in virtually all climatic conditions by providing cooling and heating
to seat occupants, as desired, through an active, thermoelectric-based
temperature management system.
CCS is currently offered as an option in the U.S. in the 2001 model year
Lincoln Navigator, in the U.S. and Europe in the new 2001 model year Lexus LS
430 luxury sedan and in Japan in the 2001 model year Toyota Celsior. It was
first introduced as an option for the model year 2000 Lincoln Navigator and
since that time more than 100,000 CCS systems have been shipped. CCS has also
been chosen to be a standard feature in the all new model year 2002 Lincoln
Blackwood luxury utility vehicle scheduled to be in dealer showrooms in the
Summer of 2001.
Certain matters discussed on the conference call, including operating
expenses, customer demand, profitability, increase in sales volume, the number
of platforms using CCS, new technological developments, and the Company's
prospects for the development of relationships with other major automotive
manufacturers, are forward-looking statements that involve risks and
uncertainties, and actual results may be different. Such risks and
uncertainties include the acceptance and performance of the Company's
products, the Company's ability to develop new products successfully and the
ability to obtain new sources of financing. Please also refer to the
Company's Securities and Exchange Commission reports, including but not
limited to the Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2000.
