AAA Texas Offers Money Saving Tips as Gas Prices Creep Up
HOUSTON--May 1, 2001--Texans are paying an average of 20 cents more per gallon for self-serve gasoline today than they were only a month ago.MONEY SAVING TIPS:
There are steps motorists can take to save fuel and money while driving:
| -- | Consolidate trips and errands to cut down on driving time. |
| -- | Find one location where you can take care of all banking, grocery shopping and other chores. |
| -- | Routinely maintain your vehicle. Keeping tires properly inflated. A properly operating vehicle helps achieve maximum fuel economy and extends its useful life. |
| -- | Lighten the load. Don't haul extra weight in the passenger compartment, trunk or cargo area of your vehicle. A heavier vehicle uses more gasoline. |
| -- | Check your vehicle owner's manual. If your vehicle does not require premium, purchase the less expensive regular unleaded gas. |
| -- | Shop for low gasoline prices locally, but don't waste gas driving to a distant service station to save a few pennies. |
