Subaru Posts Best April Total Sales Since 1986
CHERRY HILL, N.J., May 1 Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA)
today announced its sales figures for the month of April, recording a sales
total of 14,163 units, an increase of 12 percent from 2000 totals for the same
period. This represents the best total April sales for Subaru of America,
Inc. since 1986.
Subaru Outback was the driving force behind the April tally with
5,141 units posted, an increase of 10 percent from April 2000 totals.
Following the launch of the rally-inspired Subaru WRX, Impreza sedan models
posted sales of 1,354 units, an increase of 222 percent. Impreza results were
bolstered by strong sales of the Impreza wagon models, contributing to a
76 percent increase in total Impreza sales over the same period last year.
This marks the best total Impreza sales since 1994.
"April was a tremendous month for Subaru, marking our best total sales in
15 years," said Subaru of America, Inc. Executive Vice President, Fred Adcock.
"Success of the long-awaited Impreza WRX has been fueled by our new
advertising campaign, helping to redefine driving performance on Subaru terms.
Additionally, the Outback and Outback H6-3.0 models continue to yield strong
sales results, as evidenced by a 10 percent increase."
