Federal-Mogul Announces Agreement to Sell
Aviation Ignition Products Division
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., May 1 Federal-Mogul Corporation
today announced that its subsidiary, Federal-Mogul Ignition
Company, has signed an agreement to sell its Champion(R) aviation ignition
products division in Liberty, South Carolina, to TransDigm Inc. The sale is
subject to regulatory review, with an expected approval in second quarter
2001. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The aviation division is the world's largest manufacturer of igniters for
turbine engines, and spark plugs and oil filters for piston engines. It
provides products for all major commercial, military and general aircraft
applications. The division has 385 employees and had net sales of
approximately $70 million in 2000.

product," said Federal-Mogul President and Chief Operating Officer Chip

TransDigm Inc., with annual sales of approximately $150 million, is owned
by Odyssey Investment Partners, LLC, and is a leading supplier of highly-
engineered aircraft components for use on nearly all commercial and military
aircraft. The company sells its products to commercial airlines, aircraft
maintenance facilities, aircraft original equipment manufacturers and various
agencies of the United States government.
The aviation division became a part of Federal-Mogul in 1998 through its
acquisition of Cooper Automotive. Champion-brand ignition systems and
components have been used for aviation applications since the 1920s. Federal-
Mogul will continue to supply Champion ignition products to the global
automotive industry and other industrial markets.
Headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, Federal-Mogul is an automotive
