Delphi Opens Customer Center Dedicated to Ford
Business
DEARBORN, Mich., May 1 In a dedication ceremony of Delphi
Automotive Systems' newly constructed Delphi Dearborn Customer
Service Center here last night, Delphi Chairman, CEO and President J.T.
Battenberg III announced that Delphi has greatly increased its booked
contracts with Ford Motor Company since 1999. Those contracts, which include
booked sales with several of the automaker's global car and truck brands, are
expected to yield significant sales revenue for Delphi over the next three
years.

"Delphi is committed to support its customers anywhere in the world --
whether it's Dearborn or Djakarta," said Rodney O'Neal, executive vice
president and Delphi's customer champion for Ford. "Boosting our on-site
presence at the Dearborn campus is a direct result of the significant increase
in current and future business contracts we have earned with Ford since our
independence just two years ago." In 1995, Delphi's initial on-site team
consisted of four people, but recent new business awards have driven the
company to exponentially expand its engineering and customer service support
to serve Ford, O'Neal said.
The center, which will house more than 240 Delphi engineers, sales and
support staff dedicated to Ford business, is equipped with design, vehicle
analysis and prototype facilities to enhance Delphi's ability to be part of
Ford's total vehicle development process. The new facility measures 71,000-
sq. ft., up from the 9,000-sq. ft. facility formerly occupied by Delphi's Ford
Customer Support team.
Contracts for Delphi's power and signal distribution products, electronics
& mobile communication systems, safety systems, engine management systems, and
ride & handling products make up the majority of the new business bookings.
"Ford has high expectations and we are aggressively striving to exceed its
requirements in all aspects of our business. By delivering high-tech
integrated systems and modules with the best quality and cost we are helping
Ford differentiate its offerings in this very competitive industry," said
O'Neal. "We are devoted to be not only a key supplier, but a significant
partner in Ford's ongoing success in the global automotive marketplace."
Delphi's recent growth with the automaker began with a contract to
engineer and supply the first dual power sliding door system for the 1999
model year Ford Windstar minivan. Since then, Delphi has earned several other
contracts with Ford, and continues to provide power sliding doors as well as
energy & engine management products, transmission and power steering products,
instrument clusters, electronics, electrical/electronic distribution systems,
thermal products and sensors from 18 manufacturing facilities in Australia,
Europe, Japan, North America and South America.
