Live TV Coverage of Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction Through 2004

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--May 1, 2001--Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. Tuesday announced that its contract with Speedvision Network has been continued through 2004.
The Stamford, Conn. headquartered Speedvision Network has produced live coverage of the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction, held each January in Scottsdale, since 1995. The event was the first collector car auction to be televised live.
"We are extremely pleased to be able to continue our relationship with Speedvision," said Craig Jackson, president of Barrett-Jackson Auction Co.
"Six years ago we both had a belief in each other that the live auction coverage would work. Speedvision is 'the' TV place for the car enthusiast and, with their support and TV coverage, Barrett-Jackson has earned its title 'the world's greatest classic car auction'."
The Barrett-Jackson Auction live TV coverage on Speedvision has become a must see show for those collector car enthusiasts who are unable to travel to Scottsdale each year to attend the four-day auction that features over 850 cars. Barrett-Jackson carefully selects the cars that will cross the auction block during the live TV segments.
"The cars sold during the Speedvision coverage sell for higher than market expectations," said Steve Davis, vice president of Car Consignment for Barrett-Jackson.
"If we can offer the best quality, most sought after cars selling at no-reserve during those prime time hours, then our buyers respond and it's a win-win situation all around."
In addition to extending the contract with Barrett-Jackson through 2004, Speedvision will also expand the number of hours it covers the auction live.
The Scottsdale-based Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. (www.barrett-jackson.com) specializes in auctions of classic and collector automobiles. It conducts live auctions in Scottsdale and Los Angeles.
In 2001, Barrett-Jackson celebrated the 30th anniversary of its showcase Scottsdale Auction, a four-day internationally attended event that featured nearly 850 classic and collectable cars, selling 83 percent for a sale total of $26.7 million.
