NASCAR WCUP: Burton to be released from hospital

LOMA LINDA, CA -- Ward Burton, driver of the No. 22Caterpillar Dodge, was involved in a late race incident at California Speedwayyesterday. After the mandatory trip tothe infield care center, Burton was transported to Loma Linda UniversityMedical Center in Loma Linda, Calif.

Burton suffered a minor laceration on the chin and appearedto be disoriented. After series oftests, Burton was diagnosed with a concussion. He remained hospitalized overnight for observation. He is expected to be released sometime thisafternoon and will return to his home in Virginia.

Burton was wearing the new deceleration device from Simpson.

An update will be issued once Burton is released from thehospital.
