MIDGET CARS HEAD FOR PERRIS, TQs AT IRWINDALE SATURDAY
Robby Flock of Murrieta, Calif. and Todd Hunsaker of Chino Hills, Calif. recorded long-awaited feature victories in USAC Western competition over the past weekend. Both hope to repeat when the WorldCom Midget Car and TQ Midget Car Series resume action this Saturday night at different venues.
Flock led all 25 laps of Saturday's Midget Car race at Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway in the Fontana Engines Stealth. The win was the first in more than four years for the three-time series champion. Series point leader Danny Ebberts, who flipped during qualifying, came back to finish second in the feature ahead of Dwayne Marcum, Rick Hendrix and Bobby Boone. Alex Harris was the fastest qualifier. The victory was Flock's 39th in Western competition.
Hunsaker's first victory in 53 career TQ Midget Car starts came in Saturday's 20-lapper at Bakersfield. He led all 20 laps in his Hart Honda to beat series point leader Walt Johnson, Kevin Wybenga, Steve Davis and Steve Lambert.
The Midget Cars are scheduled this Saturday night at the Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway, while the TQ Midget Cars head for Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway.
