USFreightways Appoints Gerard M. Klaisle to Position of Senior Vice President, Human Resources

    CHICAGO--April 30, 2001--Samuel K. Skinner, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of USFreightways Corporation, announced today the appointment of Gerard M. Klaisle to the position of Senior Vice President, Human Resources. In this position Klaisle will be responsible for the recruitment of senior management, labor relations planning, development of executive career paths in the USFreightways family of companies, implementation and integration of select corporate-wide policies and programs, formalizing diversity planning for the corporation, and providing human resource solutions that compliment the company's strategy.

    Klaisle is a 25-year human resources veteran with experience in labor and employee relations, recruitment, compensation & benefits, Safety and Environmental Protection and employee development. He joins USFreightways after eighteen years of service at Midas, Inc., where he rose from director of labor relations to Senior Vice President, Human Resources. Klaisle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial relations from LeMoyne College in Syracuse and an MBA degree from Loyola University in Chicago.
