TRACKS: NAMARS Midgets invade Bloomington Speedway

BLOOMINGTON, IN - NAMARS midgets will make their first appearance of the season at Bloomington Speedway on Friday, May 11. With them they will bring the new Kenyon midgets.
Bloomington Speedway is a near perfect venue for midgets. It is short enough for them to be racy and wide enough to provide plenty of racing room for three or four wide. There are a lot of dirt midgets around; but they don't get a lot of chances to run them; and they very, very rarely get an opportunity to run on a track with the quality of Bloomington Speedway. They will almost certainly turn out in large numbers if the car count that Bloomington Speedway draws is any indication.
The Kenyon midgets are pretty much conventional midgets powered by motorcycle engines and equipped with self-starters. This is pretty much a beginners' series - many of them just out of quarter midgets or karts. They are full of dreams and enthusiasm. They are impatient to make a name for themselves and get to the big leagues. Of course, most of them will never make it to the top. Whatever their fate eventually turns out to be, they are exciting to watch while trying to make it.
Of course, the O'Neal Wood Products open wheel modifieds and the Tire & Wheel Center super stocks will also be in competition. Most of these guys know Bloomington Speeway like the back of their hand; but they all have their own ideas about the quickest way around the famous oval. By May 11, most of the modifieds and super stocks will have run already; and some will have seen competition at other tracks.
Whatever happens, it should be a great night of racing at Bloomington Speedway.
Pit gates will open at 4:30 PM, the grandstand gates will open at 5:30 PM, hot laps will start at 6:30 PM, and racing will begin at 7:30 PM. General admission is $10 for this event; and pit admission is $20. Overnight camping is permitted.
