zMAX to Sponsor Atlanta IRL Race; Spy Plane Navigator Lt. j.g. Regina Kauffman to Serve as Grand Marshal

HAMPTON, Ga., April 27 Atlanta Motor Speedway officials
announced today that Saturday's Indy Racing Northern Light Series race will be
called the zMAX 500. Company officials have named Lt. j.g. Regina Kauffman,
navigator of the American EP-3E Aries II spy plane forced to make an emergency
landing on Hainan Island, as Grand Marshal of the evening's festivities.
Lt. Kauffman mapped the aircraft's location and helped the pilot determine
where to land after a Chinese jet fighter collided with the U.S. Navy plane on
April 1.
"As representative of the courageous 24 crew members detained for 11 days
by the Chinese, zMAX(TM) is proud to host Lt. Kauffman here in Atlanta and
share in honoring all members of the U.S. Armed Forces," said Sid Morris,
President of Morris International, sales and marketing agency for zMAX.
Lt. Kauffman will be accompanied by her husband, Keith Kauffman, who is
also in the Navy.
"I've never been to a race," Lt. Regina Kauffman said. "I'm really looking
forward to this weekend. It will be a new and exciting experience for me and
my husband."
To further honor Kauffman and all of the men and women in the U.S. Armed
Forces, zMAX will offer all military personnel with valid military ID a
special ticket price of $15. All military representatives will sit in a
specially reserved section of the North Turn (Earnhardt) Grandstand.
Special military tickets can be purchased in advance at the Atlanta Motor
Speedway ticket office or on race day at the Military Ticket Window at Gate
15.
zMAX is a unique micro-lubricant(TM) refined from the purest forms of
petroleum. By soaking into the metal surfaces of your engine zMAX protects
vital engine parts, disperses carbon and varnish, and lowers operating
temperatures resulting in better gas mileage, increased horsepower and
improved performance.
The green flag will fall at 7 p.m. Saturday for the zMAX 500. Qualifying
will begin Friday at 8 p.m., and a fan autograph session will be held in the
garage immediately following.
