The New York Times Highlights Electric Bicycle Companies: Think Mobility Of The Ford Motor Company, EV Global Motor Company, Giant Bicycles, Currie Technologies, and ZAPWORLD.COM (Zero Air Pollution) on April 19, 2001

Donner Corp. International Issues Morning Call Notes on ZAPWORLD.COM

SANTA ANA, Calif., April 26 Donner Corp. International, a
broker/dealer headquartered in Santa Ana, CA., today issued a Morning Note on
ZAPWORLD.COM, Sebastopol, California . ZAPWORLD.COM is one of
the world's leading companies in the light electric vehicle industry,
producing and marketing vehicles such as scooters, bikes and other personal
electric vehicles. Donner Corp. reiterated its BUY recommendation on
ZAPWORLD.COM on February 15, 2001.

The Morning Call Notes is as follows:
On April 19, 2001, the New York Times ran an article featuring electric
bicycles. Link: http://www.nytimes.com/2001/04/19/technology/19BIKE.html.
The article, written by Catherine Greenman, mentioned four electric bicycle
companies, including the Think Mobility division of Ford Motor Company
, and one company that sells an add-on electric motor. Bicycles
provide a good form of recreational exercise as well as a pollution- and
noise-free method of transportation. Electric bicycle manufacturers are
targeting the aging baby boomer population and riders who would appreciate a
"helpful boost" when riding up inclines.
Electric bicycles catch the eyes of passer-bys, but they have caught on
rather slowly in the U.S. Reasons range from the expensive prices of the
bikes (over $1,000) to a short battery life (15-20 miles on one charge) to
added weight on the bikes (a battery weighs about 20 pounds). On a positive
note, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill that would classify
electric bikes as bicycles instead of motor vehicles. Nevertheless, electric
bike manufacturers still have trouble measuring the market size for these
bikes because historically, they are mostly purchased by recreational riders
rather than by commuters. But some things are certain: electric bikes do not
contribute to air pollution (unless you consider electricity power plants as
air polluters), and they provide riders who have aging legs (i.e. seniors)
with extra support when pedaling up inclines.
Fortunately for ZAPWORLD.COM, electric bikes are not the only vehicles
sold by ZAPWORLD.COM. ZAPWORLD.COM also sells electric scooters, which target
children and teenagers -- a substantial market. Recently, ZAPWORLD.COM put an
electric scooter for kids in Toys R Us stores.
We feel that ZAPWORLD.COM's success could come from increased exposure of
its products along with the economic benefits of using non-gasoline-powered
vehicles. The opening of a ZAPWORLD.COM retail store along the coast in
Newport Beach, California reflects such an effort. We expect sales and
rentals to increase in the summer when students and tourists hit the beaches
in large numbers. ZAPWORLD.COM's products are not dependent on gasoline, but
on electricity stored in a rechargeable battery. Thus, they do not contribute
to pollution at all. Donner Corp. feels that as ZAPWORLD.COM continues in its
effort to increase its marketing and visibility, coupled with the threat of
rising gas prices, hopefully the top and bottom lines would rise.
We feel that companies, such as ZAPWORLD.COM, that develop zero-pollution,
electric vehicles deserve a good look. Donner Corp. maintains its rating on
ZAPWORLD.COM as a Buy.
