Woodside Looks to Top Previous Best at California
Speedway
April 26, 2001 (North Hollywood, Calif.) - Sean Woodside, driver of the
#45 Team Walker/Ron's Rear Ends/NAPA Chevrolet in the NASCAR Winston West
Series, has been reasonably successful at California Speedway in the past,
with third, fourth and ninth place finishes to his credit.
Could a win in this Saturday morning's Pontiac Widetrack Grand Prix 200
at Fontana's two-mile oval be the next statistic Woodside adds to his
stat list? He and the team hope so.
Team owner Donna Walker has confidence in the car her team has prepared
for this weekend's event.
"We tested at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this week to shake down the new
2001 body on the car we'll be using for the Fontana race," Walker commented.
"Everything went right, and we left feeling very good about our chances
for a win this weekend."
Although Woodside is no stranger to victory circle, Walker and team are
looking forward to their first win with him as a still-new team in the
Winston West series.
"We'll be there soon," Woodside said. "The team has been giving me good
cars, and it's just a matter of time before we get that first win."
Woodside continued, "This race is always huge for us in the Winston West.
Since we race mostly on short tracks, driving on a two-mile superspeedway
is just such an awesome experience. It's a very high profile race for
us at a track that commands our respect. We generally have guest drivers
join us from Cup, and that adds into the fun."
Now in his fourth season of full-time competition in the Winston West,
Woodside is a proven talent with a championship and two second-place finishes
in the point standings. His previous experience at California Speedway
has laid the foundation for a strong performance this Saturday. Team Walker
Motorsports hopes that Woodside's history plus a great car will give them
reason to celebrate this weekend.
The Pontiac Widetrack Grand Prix 200 will be televised on Fox Sports Net,
date and time to be determined.
