Infomedia Appoints IBM Program Executive To Senior Technology Position
NARRABEEN, Australia--April 24, 2001--Global automotive industry IT developer, Infomedia Ltd, today announced the appointment of former IBM SOCOG Program Executive, Guy Bryant as Director of Technology."I'm excited that Infomedia has been able to attract such a high-level professional as Guy Bryant to our technology team," said Richard Graham, chairman and CEO of Infomedia Ltd. "Guy is not the type of `shoot from the hip' man you normally see around a young technology company. He brings over 25 years of senior technology and project management experience to the company. There is no doubt that Infomedia is growing to be much more than a software development house. With our recent acquisitions and release of our products that can operate via the Internet, the company is rapidly becoming a top tier information technology provider to the retail automotive industry."
Prior to his appointment with Infomedia Ltd, Mr Bryant spent four years with IBM as Program Executive for SOCOG (Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games). His primary responsibility was the supply of all computer and data technology necessary to support SOCOG headquarters in the organization, and subsequent delivery, of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
His role with SOCOG involved the management of 3500 computers in 45 sites. Computer systems were created to assist with the diverse range of needs of more than 5,000 people including help desk, systems support and new project implementations for SOCOG staff, contractors and volunteers. Games Management systems supporting the delivery of Games time accommodation, transport requirements, uniform distribution and purchasing requirements supporting Olympic Athletes, Media, SOCOG staff and volunteers were but a part of his delivery responsibilities.
"Guy's successful work with IBM and SOCOG was impressive to us, especially as we move forward into a network based world. As you know, Microcat is expected to successfully make the transition from disc-bound product to being an EPC used by tens of thousands of users an hour via the Internet. This transition is nothing to be taken lightly nor to think you can just outsource that work to a server farm," Graham continued. "The applications, the back-end servers and the network design must be keenly integrated to establish a non-stop, mission critical, sales solution."
Mr. Bryant's initial focus will be to work with the company's development and systems teams. "When you join a company that is growing at the rate Infomedia is, you must get to know the team and develop rapport and trust," he stated. "After my first week, I think the men and women here are really talented and committed individuals. I know some people here are impressed with my background, but I feel privileged being invited to join this team."
"The company has projects that are scheduled as far forward as 2004, and it looks like there is no end to people wanting new implementations of our products. I see my first objective is to bring professional project planning disciplines into the division, so that we achieve all our commercial business goals on time and on budget, as well as maintain our technology leadership," Bryant stated.
American born, Mr Bryant has been presented with IBM's excellence award on two separate occasions and holds patents (pending) on business process delivery. During his tenure with IBM he achieved worldwide certification in project management as a Project Management Professional from PMI (Project Management Institute) based in the United States.
Between 1992 and 1997 Mr Bryant held positions with Optus Communications and Optus Vision. Roles included Senior Architect responsible for design and roll out of Optus World franchises across Australia. He also held the position of Operations Integration Manager responsible for end-to-end technology integration of Optus Vision's technology infrastructure and systems implementation of Optus Vision's Broadband Internet site.
Prior to migrating to Australia, Guy held a number of senior positions with Digital Equipment Corporation in the United States for 17 years, including integrated circuit chip designer.
Richard Graham said that most people see the company as an EPC (electronic parts catalog) company. "That's fair enough, we are the best in the field, and are proud of it. Our On-line Business Systems division also operates the leading automotive network backbone in the country. In the near future I believe networks like ours will be the delivery method for everything that moves in or out of an I.T. centric business, such as the automobile industry is rapidly becoming. As we progress forward with all our deliverables, it is comforting to me to know that we have a visionary and experienced network technologist like Guy on our team."
