Infomedia Secures 5 Year Data License Ford Asia Pacific
NARRABEEN, Australia--April 23, 2001--Automotive industry I.T. developer, Infomedia Ltd today announced the signing of a five year data license agreement with Ford Motor Company's Asia Pacific group to provide Ford dealers in 12 Asia Pacific countries with its award winning Microcat(R) electronic parts catalog (EPC).The signing of this agreement represents an expansion of the supply of Microcat to countries within Asia and, as a result, Ford dealerships in countries such as China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam will now benefit from the unique features and advanced technology of the Microcat electronic parts selling system.
Infomedia Ltd and Ford Motor Company have enjoyed a successful association over the past 10 years. In 1991, Ford was the first of many leading car manufacturers to sign a licensing agreement for the supply of Microcat to their dealerships in Australia. Internationally, Ford licensed Infomedia Ltd to supply Microcat to Ford dealers throughout Europe in 1997, followed by North America in 1999.
"Microcat's expansion into the Asia Pacific region represents a natural progression of our working together with Ford to enhance the parts sales and customer satisfaction performance of the dealerships. While the initial returns from this next step in our relationship will be modest, we expect that our subscriptions will grow as Ford's own business in the region grows," said Richard Graham, Chairman and CEO, Infomedia Ltd.
"This agreement reflects our commitment to our customers and to the continued growth and expansion of Microcat into new markets," explained Graham.
"Microcat is the EPC most used in the Ford world," said Geoff Henderson, Asia Pacific Regional Manager, Ford Customer Service Division. "Since first working with Infomedia about 10 years ago, I've found them to always deliver a quality product and service to us. Asia is an important region for Ford this century. As we develop our brand there, through expanding our dealerships, we are committed to using information technology to its fullest. Microcat is part of the strategy and gives us a common EPC platform for our dealers in this region."
In securing this agreement, Infomedia Ltd continues to break new ground with the development of Microcat in new Asian languages including Chinese and Vietnamese.
