TOSHIBA COMPUTER SYSTEMS GROUP JOINS TOWNSEND BELL
AND DORRICOTT RACING AS ASSOCIATE SPONSOR FOR
2001 DAYTON INDY LIGHTS CHAMPIONSHIP
SUNNYVALE, Calif. ( April 22, 2001 ) - Toshiba Computer Systems
Group, a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. (TAIS), has
announced that it will team with Townsend Bell and Dorricott Racing as an
associate sponsor for 2001 Dayton Indy Lights Championship. The Toshiba
logo will be prominently displayed on the uniform of 2000 Indy Lights
runner-up Bell as well as his No. 30 Dorricott Racing-prepared Indy Lights
Lola.
"This sponsorship is a unique opportunity for Toshiba to provide
the computer hardware that will increase the overall efficiency of the
racing team and improve their means to communicate, " says Steve Andler,
vice president, marketing, Toshiba Computer Systems Group. "We hope our
contribution illustrates the power of today's technology and will help to
play a part in the overall success of Mr. Bell."
TAIS offers a wide range of portable computers, desktops and
servers that are designed to resolve customer needs and increase
productivity. Its products and solutions improve the way information is
exchanged and provide the tools necessary so its customers can truly live
the mobile lifestyle. Listening to the needs of its customers, Toshiba is
able to deliver proven, innovative mobile solutions, providing with the
best computing experience customized for the end-user's specific
requirements.
"I've always thought of Toshiba Computing products to be the very
best available on the market," said Bell. "I am excited to have our team
using the latest and highest quality technology solutions available. We
look for every advantage we can get and our new relationship with Toshiba
certainly support that objective."
Bell is considered by many motorsports insiders as the next marquee
name in American racing. Bell has already positioned himself to make a
championship run for the 2001 Dayton Indy Lights crown following his second
place finish in the season opening race at Monterrey, Mexico and recent
first place finish at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, Calif.
The San Luis Obispo, Calif., resident leaped into the Indy Lights
spotlight in 2000 with two pole positions, victories at Mid-Ohio and St.
Louis, and leading the second most laps of any driver in Indy Lights. Track
to track consistency was his winning formula as he finished second place in
the championship with 146 points - only 10 shy of winning the Indy Lights
title outright.
"We are very pleased to have Toshiba America Information Systems as
an information systems partner with Dorricott Racing," said Dorricott
Racing owner Bob Dorricott. "The accuracy of data and retrieval speed are
extremely important to success in professional motorsports."
