April 21, 2001Jeff Gordon, No. 24 Dupont Chevrolet Monte Carlo (qualified 13th):
"I'm pretty happy with that lap. I knew that we had run a .21 or something like that in practice and that was drafting. So, I knew these guys had it in 'em. They did a great job preparing this car. We're happy to have Pepsi on board this weekend on the Dupont Chevrolet. We're going to have some fun and go out there and put a good show for the fans. It's going to be a heck of a race on Sunday. Anybody can win this race. You can be sitting in 10th and come down here and win this race. Anything's possible here. You know, when we won this race here last year, the rules were different. Now with the new rules configuration, it's just anybody's game. It's hard to say who's going to win this race. It's all about track position, staying out of trouble, staying focused. You've got to be patient. There's a lot more racing room here and that can be a good thing and it can be a bad thing. It will be anybody's race and it absolutely makes no difference where you start."
