April 21, 2001Michael Waltrip, No. 15 NAPA Chevrolet Monte Carlo (qualified 8th):
"I ran up high and that keeps the momentum good coming to the white flag, and that's what it's all about. I knew this car would be right when we got down here to Talladega. I'm real confident about the race. I'm happy to be in Talladega. What great fans we have here and it's going to be fun on Sunday. I feel so good about (the chances of) winning this race. But that's crazy to say because you can be running first on the last lap and finish 10th or 12th or 20th. It's just real wild with the rules. But I feel confident that I have a car capable of winning and I just have to figure out a way to put myself in a position to win. It's like a chess match almost. You work all day long to figure out where you need to be in the end. And the NAPA Auto Parts Chevy should be a part of the story anyway. And that's all you want as a driver when you head to the track anyway. I've good teammates, too, and I'm looking forward to working with them on Sunday. It's going to be a good day in Talladega."
