The qualified drivers and their teams returned to Gainesville Raceway to complete the Mac Tools Gatornationals. The race was rescheduled after the fields were set due to rain. NHRA officials gave competitors two test and tune sessions to get ready for raceday.

During the first session Jeg was in the seventh pair of "factory hot rods" to take on the track. The Jeg's Chevrolet Cavalier rolled into the right lane. Jeg ran a 6.889 at 200.77 mph.

"It always feels good to run strong right out of the trailer. We spent yesterday testing and made three strong runs. The goal of the test session yesterday was to focus on getting our cars to go straight and we accomplished that. Now our focus is on winning the Mac Tools Gatornationals," said Jeg.

In the second test and tune session Jeg and his yellow and black Jeg's Chevrolet Cavalier moved over to the left lane. The reigning Pro Stock Champion was more than ready when the sleek Chevy Cavalier left the starting line with a .414 reaction time. Jeg crossed the beams at the big end running a 6.909 at 200.53 mph.

"We have never put a Jeg's machine in the winner's circle here at the Mac Tools Gatornationals. This is a race that I personally have always wanted to win. To win our second race in a row and take over the lead in the NHRA Winston Championship points would really big a big boast for Team Jeg's," commented Jeg.

Jeg will face off against Tom Martino in the opening round. Lane choice will go to Coughlin.
