ASA: Second Annual ACTIONLINE 300 Will Head Montgomery Weekend

ASA ACDelco Series Publication in Eighth Year of Existence

PENDLETON Ind. - The American Speed Association announced today that the May 6 ASA ACDelco Series event at Montgomery Motor Speedway will be known as the second-annual ACTIONLINE 300. It will be the second-straight season that the series h as visited the half-mile oval where veteran Mike Miller took the checkers last season.

“This is a great opportunity for ACTIONLINE and we’re very pleased to serve as title of this event,” commented ACTIONLINE Editor R. Ross Wellman. “We’ve been a part of the ASA community for eight years and this is a chance for us to have a great deal of vi sibility. We’re looking forward to a great race weekend. With this being the second year of serving in the title role at Montgomery, we see it as an opportunity to expand on the foundation built from our exposure from this race last year.”

In its eighth publication year, ASA’s official publication, ACTIONLINE, is a tabloid-style newspaper, published 20-times a year, providing ASA fans and team members all the latest news, results and feature stories surrounding the ASA ACDelco Series, its dr ivers, teams, tracks and sponsors. Readers get 24 pages of photos, insight and interviews with all the people surrounding the series for $24.95 per year ($44.95 U.S funds in Canada).

A near-capacity crowd jammed into Montgomery Motor Speedway on a sweltering, humid spring day in 2000 to see Miller, driving his number 18 Jani-King Pontiac, lead only 21 laps, to record his only victory of the 2000 season. It was his 16th career victory. Miller, who has not won since then, sits eighth in the 2001 point standings.

“We are billing the ACTIONLINE 300 as the biggest event of the season,” said Montgomery Motor Speedway General Manager W.D. Arthur. “The stars of ASA will be seen in the Busch Grand National and Winston Cup series for years to come.”

On Saturday, May 5, ASA practice begins at 9:30 a.m., with qualifications beginning at 2:30 p.m. The 100-lap qualifier race goes green at 5 p.m. On Sunday, ASA’s exclusive on-track autograph session begins at 10 a.m., with pre-race ceremonies starting at 1 1:15. The ACTIONLINE 300 starts at 12 p.m. and will be telecast LIVE on TNN Sports.

Tickets for the ACTIONLINE 300 are available through the ASA office and are $25 for reserved sections and $20 for general admission. Qualifying day tickets are $10 each. Children 12 and younger are admitted free with a paying adult in the general admission seating area. Additional information is available through the ASA ticket line, 1-888-ASA-1020.
