Crossroads Rally seminars cover biker movies, bananas
PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- Biker movies. Ballistic bananas. Bad jetting.
You can learn about all those and more in seminars at the inaugural
American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Crossroads Rally, set for July 16-19 at
the Ashland County Fairgrounds in Ashland, Ohio.
The Rally will be held between two popular motorcycling events at the
Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in nearby Lexington -- AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days
July 13-15, and a doubleheader round of the AMA Chevy Trucks U.S. Superbike
Championships, July 20-22.
The main attraction of the AMA Crossroads Rally will be riding, with more
than 20 guided and self-guided tours to destinations ranging from the huge U.S.
Air Force Museum and picturesque Amish Country to historic sites and great
winding back roads.
But riders also will have the chance to learn something from seminars at
the fairgrounds.
Mike Seate, film critic and author of the book "Two Wheels on Two Reels,"
will screen biker-movie classics and discuss how they've shaped the American
public's perception of motorcyclists.
In addition, Biker Billy, host of "Biker Billy Cooks with Fire!" will
demonstrate his culinary skills. When he's not on his motorcycle, Biker Billy
usually can be found creating tantalizing dishes with hot peppers, like "Killer
Curry," "Stuffed Shells from Hell" and "Ballistic Bananas."
Other seminars will feature representatives of Dunlop Tires, who will take
the mystery out of motorcycle rubber, and Rob King, national tech manager for
AMA Pro Racing, who will take time out from tearing down race-winning Superbikes
to answer technical questions.
The Rally also will include a vendor midway, an evening barbecue, a town
hall meeting with AMA trustees and senior staff, a motorcycle skills challenge
and more.
