Titan International, Inc. Promotes Bill
Campbell and Ron Schildt
QUINCY, Ill., April 18 Titan International, Inc.
has announced that Bill Campbell and Ron Schildt will serve as
presidents of Titan Tire Corporation and Titan Wheel Corporation of Illinois,
respectively. The Titan Tire Corporation subsidiary is located in Des Moines,
Iowa, and the Titan Wheel Corporation of Illinois subsidiary is located in
Quincy, Illinois.
"Both Bill and Ron have already undertaken many of the responsibilities
associated with the role of president, and it is appropriate to recognize
their contributions and talents with more pivotal positions," stated Maurice
Taylor Jr., president and CEO of parent company Titan International, Inc.
"During the past few years, Titan has endured strikes at two tire facilities
and an agricultural market downturn, but during these difficult times these
two men have demonstrated the leadership to build their respective
organizations. Bill has rebuilt the tire workforce from the ground up in
response to the nearly three year strike by the United Steelworkers of
America. Today, our workforce is the best in the tire industry. Ron has built
the wheel operations to be the most respected in North America."
Campbell and Schildt have both been working in conjunction with Titan
Distribution to increase Titan's wheel and tire assembly business, which is
growing due to the direct shipment program Titan has established with
Caterpillar and the extension of this program to other original equipment
manufacturers (OEMs).
"This move will allow me to dedicate more time to Titan's growth, knowing
that Bill and Ron are more than capable of handling the operational aspects.
Titan's position as the only company in the world specializing in producing
wheels and tires for the agricultural and construction markets holds real
potential for growth. As more OEMs and end users recognize Titan's ability to
offer solutions to their specific problems, Bill and Ron will ensure that
these operations are very profitable," continued Taylor.
Campbell has 28 years of manufacturing experience. He earned a B.A. from
Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. Campbell began his career as
a prototype engineer for White Motor Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio. He has
served as plant manager for Condec Corporation, Nippon Miniature Bearings and
Saab Scania A.B. He joined Titan in 1995 as operations manager for the Des
Moines, Iowa, facility and was promoted to executive vice president in 1999.
Schildt, a native of Quincy, brings 44 years of manufacturing experience
to his new position. During his 33 year tenure at Gardner Denver/Cooper
Industries, he received specialized management training and experience in many
facets of business and manufacturing. He held the position of manufacturing
plant manager during his final 11 years at Gardner Denver/Cooper Industries.
Following a short term as manufacturing plant manager for Sealed Power of St.
Louis, Schildt returned to Quincy in 1993 to join Titan as the operations
manager for the wheel manufacturing facility.
Titan is a global supplier of mounted wheel and tire systems for
off-highway equipment used in agriculture, earthmoving-construction, and
