New York Auto Show's World Traffic Safety Symposium Recognizes Drive Safer America with Community Service Award

    NEW YORK, April 20 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- Drive Safer
America! sponsored by Continental has been awarded the Community Service Award
from the 2001 World Traffic Safety Symposium at the New York Auto Show, for
its national safe driving campaign, it was announced today.
    The award recognizes Continental Teves for its multi-million dollar public
information and interactive traffic safety education campaign called "Drive
Safer America!"  Drive Safer America! is a national safety campaign that
informs motorists about the benefits and proper use of new safety technologies
like the Electronic Stability Program.  Accepting the award for Continental
Teves was Mark Sowka, vice president of Electronic Brake Systems, during
ceremonies at the Greater New York International Auto Show.
    Working with famed race car driver and automotive expert Lyn St. James and
traffic safety experts from AAA, Continental developed the campaign and
launched it in 1997.  The campaign travels to automotive safety events
throughout North America in a state-of-the-art tractor-trailer fitted with
safety exhibits and an interactive education system.  The campaign has
educated millions on the proper use of new safety technologies that contribute
to safer highways when used properly.
    The DSA! trailer allows participants to use the first-ever anti-lock brake
technology simulator, interactive exhibits on anti-lock brake systems, the
Electronic Stability Program and a portable Skid Pad Challenge where drivers
can experience first-hand the advantage of four wheel anti-lock brakes,
traction control and other new smart chassis management technologies.
    The entire Drive Safer America! public education program is made available
to the public at absolutely no cost to the community, or safety event.  In
addition, Continental Teves reinforces traffic safety education through a free
subscription to their informative safety newsletter and access to the web site
