Cohen Appointed to Collins & Aikman Board of Directors

    TROY, Mich.--April 20, 2001--Collins & Aikman Corporation announced today the appointment of Marshall A. (Mickey) Cohen to its corporate Board of Directors. In addition to his position as a Director of the Company, Cohen will also serve on the Audit Committee of the Company's Board of Directors.
    Cohen is currently Counsel at Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP, Barrister and Solicitors, a leading, full-service law firm in Toronto, Ont. In addition to Collins & Aikman, Cohen also serves as a Director for: The Toronto-Dominion Financial Group, Barrick Gold Corporation, American International Group, Inc. and Lafarge Corporation. He also serves as a Board member for several private companies and nonprofit institutions including Haynes International, Inc., Metaldyne Inc. and Premcor Inc., and is Chairman of the Board of Governors at York University in Toronto, Ont. Cohen holds a B.A. from the University of Toronto, an L.L.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School of York University, and both an L.L.M. and an Honorary L.L.D. Degree from York University.
