April 20, 2001Talladega, AL - The True Value IROC series continued with practice sessions this morning with series drivers Eddie Cheever Jr. of the Indy Racing Northern Light Series and Cart FedEx Championship series driver Kenny Brack. Cheever Jr. and Brack were joined by series test drivers Dick Trickle and Jim Sauter.
This is Cheever Jr.'s third consecutive series and he listened intently to words of wisdom from stock car veteran Trickle. "Eddie, when you are going down the back stretch I notice your right front tire wiggling back and forth, " said Trickle, indicating that Cheever Jr. is wandering left to right. "Well, you were trying to pass me," quipped Cheever Jr., Trickle laughed and said no. Eddie then explained that he was trying to find a sight line to follow in order to align himself in the draft. Jim Sauter gave Cheever Jr. the answer. "You just put your eyes on the back of the driver's head in front of you and that will put you in his tracks were you want to be," said Sauter.
Fellow Northern Light series driver Buddy Lazier will join Scott Goodyear, Eddie Cheever Jr, and Kenny Brack in this afternoon's session.
Race two for the 25th anniversary True Value IROC series will take place this Saturday, April 21 at 2:30 p.m. at the Talladega Superspeedway.
