Vallejo Speedway to Host Flat-Track Motorcycle Racing at Sonomafest 2001
SONOMA, Calif. - Sears Point Raceway won't be the only site to watch exciting motorcycle racing during Sonomafest 2001, April 27-May 6.
Vallejo Speedway2, which is located 10 miles east of the raceway at the Solano County Fairgrounds, will host a night of exciting flat-track motorcycle racing on Saturday, April 28, on its lightning-quick one-sixth mile clay oval. It will be part of the first weekend of Sonomafest, AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days West, April 27-29.
"This is a once-a-year chance for fans to see flat-track racing of this magnitude in the area," said Steve Hazelton, owner and promoter of Vallejo Speedway2. "These bikes are like a rolling museum. I know racing fans are going to like the show that we put on during Sonomafest."
More than 50 riders from the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) will participate in the event, which will feature 12 racing classes. Classic motorcycles from 1930-74 will be used, including Triumph, Indian and Harley-Davidson. You'll also see a number of Japanese and European brands.
Gates open at 4 p.m. and the racing begins at 6 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults, $8 for ages 13-18 and $6 for ages 6-12. Children 5 and under are free.
