PPG Certifies Fabricators for Architectural Glass

    PITTSBURGH--April 18, 2001--Architectural glass fabricators at 11 North American locations have been certified by PPG Industries as meeting the glassmaker's strict quality processing standards.
    They are the charter members of the PPG Certified Fabricator Program, and have passed quality audits at their fabrication locations.
    Members of the PPG Certified Fabricator Program for 2001 are:

--	ACI Distribution, a division of VVP America -- Farmers Branch, Texas (ACI Distribution South), and Oceanside, Calif. (ACI Distribution West)
--	Arch Aluminum & Glass Co. Inc. -- Villa Rica, Ga., and Waukesha, Wis.
--	J. E. Berkowitz, Westville, N.J.
--	Northwestern Industries, Seattle
--	Oldcastle Glass Group - Oldcastle Glass, Atlanta, and Downey Glass, Los Angeles
--	Trulite Industries, Toronto
--	United Glass Corp. founding members Hartung Glass Industries, Seattle, and Perilstein Distributing Corp., Cheswick, Pa.

    "Congratulations are in order for all of the Certified Fabricators," said Scott Smith, PPG market manager, flat glass. "They have completed exhaustive training, invested in equipment to upgrade their production capabilities and product quality, and passed audits -- conducted over several days -- of every aspect of their fabrication process to assess compliance with our guidelines. As a result, they have the ability and skill necessary to fabricate high-quality commercial glazing products using PPG's full line of architectural glasses."
    Smith said the purpose in establishing the network of PPG Certified Fabricators is to shorten construction lead times while improving product quality. Members receive job referrals and priority glass shipments from PPG.
    PPG Certified Fabricators undergo annual quality audits.
