NHRA: 'The Fast Lane: The History of NHRA Drag Racing' hits bookstores nationwide

April 18, 2001GLENDORA, Calif. - To honor its 50th anniversary, the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) has teamed up with ReganBooks to deliver "THE FAST LANE: The History of NHRA Drag Racing" to bookstores throughout the United States.
The 230-page retrospect, features full-color photographs with extraordinary insights into the NHRA's beginnings, fiery personalities, technological achievements and passionate fans. The book will retail for $45 and expects widespread distribution at bookstores around the country. The book also will be available on-site at the 24 NHRA Winston Drag Racing national events. Wally Parks, founder of NHRA, has written a special introduction to the book.
Featured drivers in "THE FAST LANE: The History of NHRA Drag Racing" include: Tommy "TV" Ivo, "Jungle" Jim Liberman, Mickey Thompson, Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins, Don "The Snake" Prudhomme, Shirley Muldowney, Kenny Berstein, Angelle Savoie (Seeling), Tony Schumacher, Gary Scelzi and Alan Johnson, and John Force.
Headquartered in Glendora, Calif., the NHRA is the primary sanctioning body for the sport of drag racing in the United States. It presents 24 national events through its NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series. The NHRA has more than 80,000 members nationwide and more than 140 member tracks. The NHRA-sanctioned sportsman and bracket racing series' provide competition opportunities for drivers of all levels. The NHRA develops the stars of tomorrow by offering the NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series, NHRA Summit Racing Series, NHRA Summit Import Drag Racing Series and the NHRA Street Legal Program. The NHRA also offers the NHRA Castrol GTX Jr. Drag Racing League for youths ages 8 to 17.
