April 17, 2001Schrader's Thoughts On Talladega...
"I still like the new aero rules better than what we had. You know we are all going to be in a big pile, but at least this way we can race. Everyone went to Talladega last fall, kept their noses clean and we put on a great race. I really think that can happen again and I look forward to going back.
"The "M&M's"® team is getting better every week. Our pit stops are outstanding right now. We've got Newt making great calls during the race and the pit crew consistently turning in 14-second pit stops. We're really coming together nicely."
Schrader's Talladega Highlights...
The "M&M's"® Pontiac the team will utilize this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway is the same car that competed at the Budweiser Shootout at Daytona in February. Schrader started from the pole position in the race, but was forced to pit early in the race and could not go the remaining 53 laps on fuel. The "M&M's"® Pontiac was running sixth and moving forward when the fuel cell ran dry with three laps to go.
Schrader is a fan of the big tracks, evident by his starts and finishes at the circuit's largest track, measuring in at 2.66 miles. The "M&M's"® driver has two poles, 11 top 10s, six top fives and one win at Talladega. Combined with his starts and finishes with Winston Cup's other superspeedway in Daytona, he has a combined five pole positions, 31 top 10s and 13 top fives.
The "M&M's"® Racing Team had this past weekend off, but Schrader was busy logging laps at tracks throughout the Midwest including a win from the pole position in the ARCA race at Nashville Superspeedway. Schrader also raced at I-55 Raceway in Pevely. Mo., and Monnett, Mo.
