Randy Bauer of Kingston, Wash and Thomas Meseraull of San Jose, Calif. lead their respective USAC series standings entering Saturday night's Sprint Car/Midget Car "doubleheader" at the Madera (Calif.) Speedway. A 30-lap Midget Car and 40-lap Sprint Car feature are on tap following complete prelims on the 1/3-mile paved oval.

Both Bauer and Meseraull have tasted victory this year, Bauer winning the March 31 Sprint race at El Cajon, Calif. and Meseraull taking the April 1 Midget Car race at Stockton, Calif. Neither has fared very well at Madera in the past, Bauer finishing 14th in his USAC Western Sprint Car debut there last year and Meseraull missing the "top-10" in three of his five Madera starts in 2000, taking a fourth and fifth.

Saturday's practice is set for 2:30 pm, with qualifying and racing to follow, including heat races, semis and feature events for both series.

Rick Williams (13.620 seconds, Sprint Cars) and Jay Drake (13.780, Midget Cars) are the respective track record holders at Madera Speedway.
