TRACKS: Open Practice at Bloomington Speedway

BLOOMINGTON, IN - An open practice session is scheduled for April 27 for all classes scheduled to compete at Bloomington Speedway during the 2001 racing season. Hot laps will begin at 6:30 PM.

Bloomington Speedway is widely accepted as the finest quarter mile dirt oval in the Midwest; and promoter Mike Miles works the track all week to insure that it is also the best prepared. He has even upped the ante on track preparation for the 2001 season. In the past Mike worked away from the track over the winter; however, this year he spent the entire off-season working on the track and facilities.

In keeping with his commitment to excellence, Miles intends to do all he can to help insure that the cars are as ready for competition as is his oval. A part of this effort is this open practice session. Race teams can test their equipment and let the drivers hone the edge of their reflexes that may have been slightly dulled over the winter. Most of the teams simply can't afford to rent a track to do this. This practice session accomplishes the same thing for only the cost of a $10 pit pass.

The fans benefit from this program too. They are welcome to attend this open practice free of charge.

Miles commented, "We've done some things to improve the schedule that should bring a lot of new drivers to Bloomington Speedway; and we want them to have an opportunity to test on our track. This should help them get a good start on their season. It's a little extra work for us; but it should pay in better shows for the fans this summer."

As an added feature for the 2001 season, our sales manager, Chuck Welch, will be on WSKT (93.7 FM) out of Spencer each Wednesday morning at 8:45 AM and on WQKC out of Seymour each Wednesday at 12:30 PM. Tune in and listen to Chuck for the latest news of Bloomington Speedway.
