Mitsubishi Motors Continues its Efforts to Drive Out Hunger; Employees Join Retailers in Nationwide Food Drive for America's Hungry
CYPRESS, Calif.--April 16, 2001--The equivalent of more than 1 million pounds of food to feed the hungry was collected throughout the country by employees and retail partners of Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America Inc. (Mitsubishi Motors) for distribution by America's Second Harvest through their national network of food banks."Companies like Mitsubishi Motors have enormous potential to make a difference in helping reduce hunger in America through effective food drives," said Pierre Gagnon, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Mitsubishi Motors, which just concluded its 12th annual food drive. "Our employee efforts were even more committed this year, which is so important as America's Second Harvest provides food for more than 26 million hungry men, women and children each year."
Volunteers from Mitsubishi Motors corporate offices, five regional offices, four parts distribution centers, Mitsubishi Motors Credit of America and Mitsubishi Motors' retail partners participated in collecting through food and cash donations the equivalent of 1,028,970 pounds of food. America's Second Harvest provides 30 pounds of food for every dollar raised.

America's Second Harvest is the nation's largest domestic hunger relief organization. Through 200 affiliates across the United States, America's Second Harvest serves more than 26 million hungry Americans each year, 8 million of whom are children.
