EVENT REVIEW: This will be the third 200-lap event for this NASCAR Division at this track. The 2000 event saw a first time NASCAR Bud Pole winner but it also saw an outstanding race between Smith and eventual 2000 Gatorade All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring Champion Billy Bigley Jr. of Naples, Fla. Smith took an early lead in the race that had eight drivers finishing on the lead lap and 18 of 29 starters running at the end. By lap 12 Bigley had taken the point, after starting third, but through the next third of the race Smith and Bigley stayed in a tight dual. A major incident involving 10 cars on lap 85 with only two cars going to the garage for repairs. With Kevin Prince leading Smith stayed close and regained the point again on lap 127 when Prince had to pit for fuel. Over the final 25 laps, with Smith at the point, Jeff Fultz was able to get around the leader for the final 17 laps to take his first of two wins in 2000.
