Vignette Drives Global e-Business Initiatives for DaimlerChrysler
AUSTIN, Texas--April 11, 2001--DaimlerChrysler Uses Vignette(R) Applications to Manage, Personalize
and Syndicate Digital Content Around the World
Vignette Corp. , the leading supplier of customer-driven Internet applications, today announced that DaimlerChrysler has selected Vignette applications as the standard global Web architecture for all its intranet, extranet and World Wide Web sites deployed on two continents.
Taking a strong step forward in its new focus on e-business, DaimlerChrysler has successfully relaunched the official classic section of the Mercedes-Benz Web site (http://www.mercedes-benz.com/classic/) and introduced the Freightliner LLC site (http://www.mytruck.com/) using Vignette applications.
In the future, DaimlerChrysler plans to transition its global Internet presence (http://www.mercedes-benz.com/), including all country-specific sites, to Vignette applications.
The selection of Vignette's applications were part of the DaimlerChrysler Information Technology Management (ITM) organization's efforts to help drive consistent messages and increase synergies across the company. DaimlerChrysler project planners and business partners aim to migrate all the group's sites to Vignette applications in the near future. Projects are already under way in Europe, Asia and the United States.
"The ITM business plan provides an on-ramp to our new infrastructure and the Vignette(R) Content Management Server, and our partners are also helping us achieve our objectives by sharing their knowledge, experience and investments with each other and our subsidiaries," said Phillip Palajac, Information Technology Management, Global Content Management Server at DaimlerChrysler.
"Vignette's applications have been deployed at DaimlerChrysler since late 1998," said Mike Vollman, senior vice president of sales and services at Vignette. "In implementing these various Web, intranet and extranet applications with Vignette, DaimlerChrysler has taken a huge step in enhancing an enterprisewide e-business platform."
The global infrastructure installation was a well-coordinated effort between Vignette(R) Professional Services (VPS) and DaimlerChrysler's CMS Competency Centers in Europe and North America.
