RON HORNADAY, NO. 14 CONSECO PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:

(ON HIS LATE RACE INCIDENT) "What a bummer, huh? We popped a tire. We had a great race car all day. [Crew chief] Fred Graves found something yesterday in 'Happy Hour' and changed that into a whole different race car - and we knew it was a good one. Starting 43rd and running in the top 10 all day, I'm pretty darn happy with this team.

"Qualifying here didn't show and the finish didn't show it, but the team ran strong all day. We were up there all day and had an opportunity to finish in the top 10 after starting that far back, so I'm real pleased.

"Towards the end the track got really slick. We should have made some adjustments for the track, but I thought we were just as fast as anything else that was out there."

(DID YOU LEARN A LOT TODAY?) "When I let Mark Martin I learned a lot of respect for that guy because I just learned so much. I picked up about three tenths [of a second] just by following him.

"We led some laps today. Fred and this whole Conseco Pontiac team - it's going to change around. The finish might not show it, but we definitely ran good."
