ADVISORY/Los Angeles Clippers and Mitsubishi Dealers Bring Inner City Youth to the STAPLES Center to Advocate Sportsmanship and Seat Belt Safety
--WHO: 101 Mitsubishi Junior Clippers kids (ages 5-18) will participate in a special basketball clinic at the STAPLES Center. These youth will receive instruction and conditioning tips from the Clippers players and coaches. Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc., Southern California's 21 Mitsubishi Motors Dealers and the Los Angeles Clippers are hosting the event. Clippers star guard Jeff McGinnis and Clippers coaches will also be in attendance. WHAT: The final clinic in a series of three, this special clinic at the STAPLES Center recognizes Mitsubishi Junior Clippers participants who are either leaders in sportsmanship on their respective teams or won the safety belt essay contest sponsored by Mitsubishi Motors. The Mitsubishi Junior Clippers program is a collaborative effort between Mitsubishi Motors, its 21 Southern California Mitsubishi Motors Dealers, the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles City Recreation and Parks (LACRP). This first-time program was designed to promote the fundamentals of basketball, sportsmanship, and athletics as an alternative to negative influences. WHEN: Friday, April 6, 4 - 5:45 p.m., prior to the Clippers game against the Milwaukee Bucks WHERE: STAPLES Center, 1111 South Figueroa Street, Los Angeles WHY: The clinic recognizes two cornerstones of the Mitsubishi Junior Clippers program; the importance of sportsmanship and seat belt safety. All youth participants were required to sign a contract agreeing to wear their seat belts every time they are in a vehicle in order to participate in the clinic. NOTE: Stephanie Keefe, Mitsubishi Motors Corporate Relations Specialist, will be attending the event and will be happy to coordinate interviews, along with Denise Booth.
