WALNUT, Calif.--April 6, 2001--As the 2001 CART racing season kicks into high gear at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, California, ViewSonic(R) Corp., a leading worldwide Visual Technology(TM) provider, today announced a partnership deal with Sigma Autosport.
Under the agreement with Sigma, ViewSonic's well-known logo, the three colorful finches, will be prominently featured on the team's No. 22 Ford Lola Cosworth Champ Car for the duration of the 2001 CART FedEx Championship Series. ViewSonic will make a wide range of display products and technology available for use by Sigma Autosport.
"We are excited about our relationship with Sigma Autosport for the 2001 racing season," said Jeff Volpe, vice president of Business Products Division. "The demanding environment of CART racing presents ViewSonic with an opportunity to showcase its commitment to technology leadership in our products, services and customer support."
A variety of ViewSonic products will play an integral role in the race day efforts of the Sigma Autosport team. A number of ViewSonic VE170b 17" flat panel LCD displays will be put to work in Sigma's new state-of-the-art timing stand, providing instant information on the race, the race car and its systems that needs to be communicated to the team and the driver, Oriol Servia.
In addition, while Servia and the ViewSonic finches navigate the CART series tracks throughout the season, three 42" plasma screens, the ViewSonic VPW420, will display the racing action in the new Sigma VIP hospitality station.
"Precision, performance and quality are critical components in the high-speed world of CART racing," said Tom Wieringa, owner, Sigma Autosports. "ViewSonic's products deliver the technology and dependability we need in this demanding environment."
