SONOMA, Calif. - Snap-on Tools has signed on as title sponsor of the 2001 NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series race at Sears Point Raceway. The event will be part of the NASCAR Winston Cup Weekend, June 21-24.
The Snap-on Tools 200 will take place on Saturday, June 23, on the 10-turn, 2-mile road course nestled in the scenic Sonoma Valley. This marks the third consecutive year Snap-on Tools has served as title sponsor. Jim Inglebright of nearby Fairield (Ca.) is the defending champion.
"We are thrilled to have Snap-on back again this year," said Tim Schuldt, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Sears Point. "It's a partnership we value very much. We look forward to helping Snap-on sell more tools and we look forward to a great Snap-on Tools 200."
Founded in 1920, Snap-on is the leading global developer, manufacturer and marketer of tool and equipment solutions for Professional Automotive shops and technicians. Product lines range from hand tools, tool storage and hand-held diagnostics, to all major shop diagnostic and equipment needs. Snap-on Tools are primarily marketed in the United States through its nearly 4,000 dealers/franchises in the familiar "white-step" vans.
"We are very excited to continue our valued partnership with Sears Point Raceway in 2001. With monumental improvements, Sears Point stands out as the top road course in the U.S.," said Denny Chittick, Snap-on Northern California Branch Manager. "Sears Point is a perfect arena for our dealers to show their appreciation to our loyal customers. Strong customer relationships have, and will be, the foundation of our success. Snap-on stands for quality and so does NASCAR and Sears Point Raceway."
Snap-on continues its relationship with Sears Point Raceway at an exciting time as the facility embarks on a $35 million modernization plan that will transform the raceway into one of the premier motor racing and entertainment venues in the world. Some of the plans include sponsorable fan venues, permanent garage facilities, pedestrian tunnels, improved roadways to reduce traffic congestion and construction of scenic hillside terrace seats.
