Nissan Division Reports March Sales Figures

    CARSON, Calif., April 3 Nissan Division today posted a
2.0 percent decrease in car and truck sales last month compared with sales in
March 2000 but up 22 percent over February 2001.  Sentra maintained its strong
performance with the sale of 8,910 vehicles, a 95.2 percent increase compared
with the same month last year, while Altima sales increased to 16,292
vehicles, a 16.1 percent increase versus year-ago levels.  Total car sales up
10.3 percent versus a year-ago.

    Combined U.S. sales for Nissan and Infiniti divisions totaled 69,200
vehicles in March, a 0.5 percent decrease compared with the same month last
year.

    Other March and fiscal-year sales highlights include:
    -- Maxima sales of 10,893
    -- Xterra sales of 7,191
    -- Quest sales of  2,459
    -- Pathfinder sales of 6,485
    -- Frontier sales of 8,641
    -- Frontier Crew Cab sales for the fiscal year were up 22.8% over the
       prior fiscal year.

    For the 2000 fiscal year ending March 31, 2001, Nissan Division sales are
up 4.9 percent versus last fiscal year.  Combined sales for Nissan and
Infiniti divisions for the fiscal year totaled 744,320 units, up 4.7 percent
versus last fiscal year.

    Fiscal year 2000 has been filled with changes for Nissan, including the
launch of a series of exciting new products, increased sales in the United
States and a return to significant worldwide profitability under the Nissan
Revival Plan.

    "We met our expectations during a hotly competitive fiscal year," said
Bill Kirrane, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division.  "And we're
looking forward to great results this fiscal year starting with the launch of
the all-new 2002 Altima which we will unveil on April 11 at the New York
International Auto Show."
