Traffic.com to Provide Traffic Information To EMMIS Communications' Radio Stations; Service Began April 1st in New York, Los Angeles and Indianapolis
WAYNE, Pa.--April 3, 2001--Traffic.com, the leading provider of digital traffic and logistics information, announced today that it has executed a two-year agreement with EMMIS Communications to provide traffic information to 22 EMMIS radio stations in seven major markets. Included are on-air reports to the stations and customized updates available on the stations' respective websites.Traffic.com on-air reports to most EMMIS radio stations in New York, Los Angeles and Indianapolis began as of April 1st, while the remaining EMMIS stations in Chicago, Denver, Phoenix and St. Louis will commence service as their contracts with current traffic providers expire.
EMMIS stations receiving the new service now include WRKS-FM, WQHT-FM, and WQCD-FM in New York; KPWR-FM in Los Angeles (KZLA-FM will be added later in the year); and Indianapolis stations WENS-FM, WIBC-AM, WNOU-FM, WTLC-AM and WYXB-FM.
EMMIS will also phase in Traffic.com reports on its five St. Louis stations, four Denver stations, three Phoenix stations and one Chicago station over a several-month period.
Listeners to EMMIS radio stations and website visitors will obtain highly accurate traffic information, as Traffic.com utilizes airborne and mobile reporters as well as sophisticated operations centers to produce its reports. Ultimately, Traffic.com plans to install its exclusive TrafficPulse(SM) digital sensor network in each of these markets.
The sensor network will continually measure traffic flow to provide motorists with real-time updates that include actual traffic speeds and point-to-point travel times. The digital information will be supplemented with traditional event & incident data to provide a complete, intelligent traffic solution.
The TrafficPulse digital sensor network is currently deployed along key roadways in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
