Long Beach…One Year Ago: While subbing for the injured Shinji Nakano at Walker Racing, Herta powered the #5/Avex/Honda/Reynard to a fifth place finish at the 2000 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Herta's Long Beach result was the best finish of the season for Walker Racing.

Home Turf: A resident of Valencia, California, the 2001 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach will mark Herta's seventh consecutive start at the beach, where he has posted four consecutive top-six finishes.

CART Radio Network: Herta will be a featured guest on the CART Radio Network Thursday, recorded live from Hooters on Pine Avenue. The show is open to the public, and will include questions from the audience.

Herta on Long Beach:

"Without question, Long Beach is my favorite event of the year. Not just because it is my home race, but because of the atmosphere, the fans, and especially because this is the race that made me want to become a Champ Car driver. I always dreamed of competing and winning the Long Beach Grand Prix. I will make my seventh start here this year, and I have led the race a few times, but I have never won it. I cannot think of anything that would give me a greater feeling of accomplishment or personal satisfaction. For me, Long Beach is the highlight on the CART circuit. It is not my favorite track, but it is definitely my favorite event."
