ANDERSON'S "GLEN NIEBEL CLASSIC" SCHEDULED SUNDAY
Anderson (Ind.) Speedway hosts the second annual "Glen Niebel Classic" presented by the Stoops Automotive Group this Sunday afternoon and following Saturday night's rain-interruption at Rossburg, Ohio, Anderson's race will now serve as the 2001 series opener.
Rains, which interrupted Saturday night's events at the Eldora Speedway, forced cancellation after qualifying and the non-qualifiers race had been conducted. The "Don Branson/Jud Larson Classic" race name will be carried over to the April 28 event at Eldora, the second half of the 2001 "Border Wars VII," which starts April 27 at Attica, OH. J.J. Yeley was Saturday's fastest Eldora qualifier and Chris Malone won the "non-qualifiers race."
The Stoops Freightliner Sprint Cars will be joined by the WorldCom National Midget Cars for Sunday's Anderson events, with 50-lap features on tap for each series. Practice on the 1/4-mile paved oval gets under way at 10:30 am and preliminaries include heat races and semis for each series. The first race is expected to start at 2 pm.
Defending "Glen Niebel Classic" champions are Eric Gordon (Sprint Cars) and Jay Drake (Midget Cars).
