Goenaga Named President and CEO of General Cable, Europe and Senior Vice President of General Cable Corporation

    HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.--April 2, 2001--General Cable has announced the appointment of Domingo Goenaga Campmany as President and Chief Executive Officer of General Cable, Europe. Goenaga was also named a Senior Vice President of General Cable Corporation and will participate as a member of General Cable's Corporate Leadership Team. Goenaga's appointment to this new position is designed to facilitate the Company's participation in the European Economic Union. He will continue to report directly to Gregory B. Kenny, President and Chief Operating Officer.
    General Cable Europe is engaged in the production of wire and cable for energy, industrial, construction, and data and telecommunications applications. With principal manufacturing facilities in Spain and Portugal, General Cable Europe provides wire and cable products to a diverse customer base, both directly and through distributors, located throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South America and the Far East.
    "Domingo's vision and leadership, along with his extensive industry and international market experience, make him ideally suited to lead the growth of General Cable Europe," said Kenny.     Goenaga joined General Cable in 1963 and brings to this important new role more than 38 years of industry experience. Most recently, he was the Managing Director of General Cable, Iberia. Throughout his service with General Cable, Goenaga has held numerous leadership roles in both finance and general management in Europe.
