Forecasts of cold and inclement weather for Sunday, April 1, have forced postponement of the second annual "Glen Niebel Classic" at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway. The racing program, featuring the USAC Stoops Freightliner Sprint Cars and the USAC WorldCom National Midget Cars, has been rescheduled for Sunday, April 8.
Saturday night's scheduled "Don Branson/Jud Larson Classic" at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio will be held as planned, since weather forecasts for Saturday are not as severe as for Sunday.
The Eldora race will serve as the opening event in the 2001 Stoops Freightliner Sprint Car Series.
"We are disappointed that Sunday's weather forecast is so negative," said USAC President/CEO John Capels, "but we and the Anderson track management feel the postponement will provide a much better atmosphere for race fans on the rescheduled date of April 8. Preliminary entries for both series indicated a stellar field of drivers and cars for what promises to be one of the season's most attractive doubleheaders."
