Tri-State Mitsubishi Dealers Donate $25,000 and Honor New York Ranger Sandy McCarthy With Steven A. McDonald Extra Effort Award

Mitsubishi Dealers Continue Long-Term Support of New York Charity

NEW YORK, March 30 The Tri-State Mitsubishi Dealer
Advertising Association (MDAA) wrapped its 11th year supporting the Steven. A.
McDonald Extra Effort Award by donating $25,000 to a fund that provides
financial assistance to the award's namesake, a former New York police officer
seriously injured in the line of duty who now spends time helping children in
the tri-state area. This year's award was presented to New York Ranger Sandy
McCarthy in recognition of the extra effort he demonstrates on the ice.
"Tri-State Mitsubishi dealers support Steve McDonald and the positive
example he sets for the entire community," said Michael Cohen, president,
MDAA. "More than 30 Mitsubishi dealers who contributed their time and money
to this great cause reflect the MDAA's commitment to the communities in which
we live and work."
The award, voted on by Ranger fans throughout the month of March via
Madison Square Garden in-arena balloting, at Mitsubishi Motors retailers and
on the world wide web at http://www.newyorkrangers.com, is given annually to the New
York Ranger who gives the most extra effort throughout the season. This
year's award was presented at Madison Square Garden on March 24th during a
game against the Detroit Red Wings.
Five voters were selected at random and invited to attend the game and
award presentation, and to also participate in an on-ice new car giveaway.
Each of those five voters was given a car key and asked to unlock the door to
a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder during the game's first intermission. Susan
Baust of Manorville, NY held the winning key and was awarded the new car.
