Johnson Controls Gains Ford's 2000 World Excellence
Award
Manufacturer of seats, interior systems and batteries
is recognized for warranty-reduction performance
PLYMOUTH, Mich., March 30 Johnson Controls was
recognized by the Ford Motor Company with its 2000 World Excellence Award,
honoring the company as one of the automaker's top suppliers in the world for
its performance last year. The awards ceremony took place on March 20 at the
Detroit Opera House.
At the event, Johnson Controls officials accepted the award in the
Recognition of Achievement category for outstanding performance in warranty-
reduction activities for automotive seating and interiors during 2000. The
World Excellence Awards program provides annual recognition based on quality,
cost and delivery metrics jointly developed by Ford and its suppliers. A total
of 38 suppliers from 14 countries won awards from Ford in various categories.
The Ford World Excellence Award - Recognition of Achievement is given to
suppliers that have an impact on customer satisfaction by leading the
following key initiatives for Ford: high-mileage improvement, warranty
reduction, environmental leadership and consumer-focused technology.
Recognition of Achievement awards were presented to 13 suppliers at the event.
"This prestigious award reflects very favorably on our employees for the
outstanding quality, craftsmanship and focus on customer satisfaction they
have delivered to Ford throughout the world," said Rande Somma, president of
North America for the Automotive Systems Group of Johnson Controls. "We are
honored to receive this award, and we will sustain a strong commitment to
maintaining our successful partnership with Ford in the coming years."
Carlos Mazzorin, Ford group vice president of Global Purchasing and South
America, congratulated Johnson Controls and called the company one of Ford's
most valuable assets. Without the supplier's extraordinary contributions, Ford
could not have achieved many of its goals in 2000, he said.
Johnson Controls provides automotive interior systems and components for a
variety of Ford models manufactured in North America, South America, Europe,
Asia and Africa. Some of Ford's most popular vehicles manufactured in North
America for model-year 2001 feature Johnson Controls content, including the
Ford Excursion, Expedition, Explorer, F-Series, Focus, Ikon, Mustang and
Ranger, Taurus and Windstar; Lincoln Continental, LS and Navigator; and
Mercury Grand Marquis, Mountaineer and Villager.
Among the automotive products supplied to the automaker are seat systems;
door panels; overhead systems; electronic products; other interior components;
and batteries. Johnson Controls provides many innovative products to Ford
designed to increase customer satisfaction for the automaker's vehicles. Among
them are the HomeLink(R) Universal Transceiver, which enables drivers to
remotely operate garage doors, lighting and security systems; the
TravelNote(R) message system, an integrated digital recording/playback device
for storing messages; the AutoVision(R) in-vehicle video entertainment system;
and RECARO brand custom-designed, performance automotive seats.
