Engineer Receives Automotive Occupant Restraints Council's Highest Award

LEXINGTON, Ky., March 30 James S. Remick, immediate past
chairman of the Automotive Occupant Restraints Council (AORC), and retired TRW
Inc. executive today received the Council's Pathfinder award during the
organization's annual meeting in Tucson, Ariz.

The Pathfinder award is AORC's highest honor. It is presented annually to
an individual whose "vision and integrity" have led to outstanding
contributions to automotive safety. AORC is a non-profit organization
representing the manufacturers and suppliers of motor vehicle occupant air
bags, seat belts and seating systems.

Remick's professional involvement with automotive occupant restraint
systems began in 1996 when he was named vice president and general manager of
TRW Occupant Restraint Systems Group.

In that position he directed the giant automotive industry supplier's
operating units that engineer and produce air bag and seat belt systems. His
scope of responsibility encompassed TRW facilities in 12 countries and the
United States.

Immediately prior to his retirement from TRW in 2000, Remick was executive
vice president and general manager for the corporation's worldwide Engine
Components Steering business. He served as a member of the TRW Management
Committee.

Remick joined TRW in 1961 and held positions of increasing responsibility
in engineering and management. By 1971 he was appointed plant manager for TRW
Steering and Suspension Division, Sterling Heights, Mich. In 1980 he became
vice president and general manager of TRW Commercial Steering Division. He
continued to progress at TRW and in 1991 was vice president and general
manager, Steering and Suspension Systems, North and South America.

In 1995 he was named vice president and deputy general manager, TRW
Automotive, and from that position he directed TRW's initiative to improve
operating effectiveness.

Remick was elected AORC's chairman in 1996 and was reelected to serve a
second term that ended in 2000.

In presenting the award, AORC Chairman Lon Offenbacher, Product Line
Director for Occupant Protection Systems, Delphi Automotive Systems, said, "It
was through Jim's leadership that AORC was able to establish and maintain its
Washington, D.C. office. Having a presence in the nation's capitol is
extremely important to the association and its members. During his tenure as
chairman AORC has broadened its legislative and regulatory activities at state
and national levels. He left a blueprint for growth which AORC plans to
pursue."

Offenbacher told the membership that Remick was responsible for producing
AORC's successful television video and pamphlet that explains the industry's
advanced technology restraint systems and their life saving benefits.

A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Remick holds a bachelor's degree in
mechanical engineering from Youngstown State University and an MBA from
Michigan State University.

He is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers.

He and his wife Sheli reside in Carmel, Ind.
