ALLEN PARK, Mich., March 29 Alcoa Inc. announced that its
Alcoa Fujikura, Ltd. (AFL) Automotive unit received Ford Motor Company's World
Excellence Award for Recognition of Warranty Achievement, recognizing the
organization as one of its top suppliers in the world for 2000 performance.
The World Excellence Award provides annual recognition based on quality,
cost and delivery metrics jointly developed by Ford and its suppliers.
Thirty-eight suppliers from 14 countries won awards in various categories.
AFL was the only electrical distribution system (EDS) supplier to receive an
Achievement Award for Warranty Reduction.
Carlos Mazzorin, Ford Motor Company's Group Vice President of Global
Purchasing and South America said, "Congratulations to Alcoa Fujikura. You
are one of Ford's most valuable assets. Without your extraordinary
contributions, we could not have achieved many of our goals in 2000."
The Recognition of Achievement award is given to suppliers that impact
customer satisfaction by leading Ford key initiatives, including Warranty
Reduction. AFL was one of just four suppliers receiving an Achievement Award
for Warranty Reduction.
"The award highlights AFL's commitment to meeting and exceeding our
customers' high expectations for delivering outstanding quality and
reliability," said Bob Hughes, CEO, who accepted the award on behalf of the
organization. "This recognition is representative of the level of partnership
and value AFL strives for with its customers."
