Avis Upgrades Its Tracking System For Corporate Travel
Managers
Avis Interactive Is Car Rental Industry's First and Only Customized,
Web-based Reporting and Information System
GARDEN CITY, N.Y., March 29 Corporate travel managers
charged with monitoring their companies' rental car usage are helping break
new technological ground by using Avis InterActive Release 2.0, the rental car
industry's only customized, Web-based reporting system. Avis Rent A Car's
"Data on Demand" feature (accessible at https://www.avisinteractive.com)
provides corporate accounts with detailed, password-protected information on
rental transactions, as well as renters' current individual car rental
preferences.
Corporate travel managers and other senior executives responsible for
controlling rental car costs and ensuring travel policy compliance now have
easy access to the necessary information right at their desktops. They can
immediately produce customized reports without having to contact Avis for
information-a service no other rental car company can provide. A special tour
of Release 2.0 is available without a password to all visitors to the Avis
InterActive site.
"With the launch of Avis InterActive Release 2.0, we are once again
demonstrating our technological leadership in the rental car industry," said
F. Robert Salerno, President and Chief Operating Officer of Avis Rent A Car
System, Inc. "From giant corporations to small businesses, companies of all
sizes can save both time and money by using this technology to manage their
rental car travel more efficiently. At a time when corporate customers are
looking for real differentiation among rental car companies, only Avis can
offer both groundbreaking technology and the industry's top rankings for
customer loyalty."
Last fall, Avis was the top logistics and transportation company in the
InformationWeek 500 rankings of the most innovative technology users across
24 industries for demonstrating "a pattern of technological, procedural and
organizational innovation." The company also outranked all of its
competitors-and all 129 companies measured -- in the third annual Brand Keys
Customer Loyalty Awards.
The initial release of Avis InterActive in 1999 gave travel managers a
limited ability to sort data by revenue, transaction and location. Release
2.0 offers new, expanded capability with a selection of 54 different fields of
rental transaction data and 27 fields based on personal preference data,
including such items as travelers' names, car class reserved and driven, daily
rate, pick-up and drop-off locations, duration of rental, travel agency used
and type of credit card used. Managers can perform comparative analyses on
historical spending, since Avis can provide them with up to 30 months of past
data.
The system provides travel managers and travel analysts key data for
successful rental car use management, such as rental car usage, available
discounts and corporate contract provisions. Salerno noted that some Avis
customers are using the data to establish rental patterns for specific cities,
and even to compare the merits of one-day car rentals in a particular location
versus employees' use of cabs and limousines.
"Avis InterActive saves us a lot of time," said Ellen Meyer, Travel
Analyst for BMC Software, one of the world's largest independent software
vendors and an Avis corporate customer. "I can instantly report on travel to
the executive management whenever they want an update. Avis can provide this
service, while we have to wait five to 10 days for a report from our secondary
rental company."
